baskets. Established 2000.
Beautifully grained pieces of Ash &
Elm from managed resources are used to create these fascinating
baskets. Folded flat for easy storage, stood upright as an ornamental
feature or fully open as a basket.
They make the perfect gift. All from a single
piece of wood, they may be used as a decorative centrepiece,or for
fruit,flowers, potpourri,nuts or bread.
All the baskets are treated with
sunflower/mineral oil, and are completely safe with food.
Chris & Kate came across the basic
idea for these unusual hand made baskets after talking to scrollsaw
enthusiasts in North America. The original concept of a collapsing
spiral is thought to have originated from the Amish communities in the
19th century.
Having had 25 years experience in precision
engineering Chris decided to try and create different shaped baskets
around the concept of a collapsing spiral of wood.
The engineering experience gained by Chris
Riley, has been invaluable in the design and manufacture of these high
quality and extremely desirable folding baskets.
